LegalAccessibility
What this site does for accessibility, and where it still falls short.
A statement of where sitereal.app stands against WCAG 2.2 level AA — written as a self-assessment, with the gaps named rather than left out.
Our aim
We want this site to be usable by everyone, whatever the input device, the screen and the assistive technology. The target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA, which is also the standard EN 301 549 and the German Barrierefreiheitsstärkungsgesetz (BFSG) build on.
This is a statement we make voluntarily. sitereal is sold from this site, which makes the ordering part of it the kind of service the BFSG describes; we are a micro-enterprise, for which the Act makes an exception where services are concerned. We are publishing the assessment anyway, because a tool that generates websites has no business being careless about how its own pages behave.
Conformance status
Partially conformant means most of the site meets the standard and some parts do not. What does not is listed below, without exception, and each item is something we intend to fix rather than something we have decided to live with.
What has been done
- Semantic markup: real headings in order, real lists, real landmarks, and a page language declared on the document.
- Every interactive element is reachable and operable by keyboard, and the navigation menu handles Escape, arrow keys and focus containment while a panel is open.
- A visible focus ring on everything focusable, drawn from one set of tokens so it is consistent and never removed without a replacement.
- Animation is decorative only. Everything that moves is switched off when your system asks for reduced motion, and no content depends on an animation having played. The screen recording on the home page has a pause button, and does not start on its own when reduced motion is on.
- Text contrast is measured against the dark background and meets the 4.5:1 ratio for body text and 3:1 for large text; the same is checked for the borders and controls that carry meaning.
- Layouts are fluid and reflow to a single column, so a 320px viewport or a 400% zoom needs no horizontal scrolling.
- Images carry alternative text, and purely decorative graphics are marked as decorative so a screen reader passes over them.
- No content flashes, blinks, autoplays with sound, or takes over the page on a timer.
Known limitations
These are the parts we know are not yet at level AA:
- There is no skip link at the top of the page yet, so keyboard users pass through the navigation on every page. This is the next fix.
- The interface illustrations — the builder canvas, the code windows, the panels shown on the feature pages — are decorative reconstructions rather than real controls. They are not focusable and are hidden from screen readers, which means what they depict is described only by the surrounding text.
- A few sections carry long link labels that read out awkwardly out of context.
- The documentation section at /docs has not yet been assessed to the same standard as the rest of this site.
- The sitereal application itself is not covered by this statement. Parts of it — the canvas, the tree and the style panel — are not yet usable without a pointing device, and we are not going to claim otherwise until they are.
Reporting a barrier
If something on this site is unusable for you, tell us — a bug report about accessibility is treated like any other bug, and it helps more than an audit does.
Email support@sitereal.app with the page, what you were trying to do and what got in the way. We confirm receipt within a few working days and tell you what we can do and when.
Describing the assistive technology and the browser you use helps, but it is not required — a sentence saying what did not work is enough.
If we do not help
This statement is voluntary and there is no supervisory procedure attached to it. If you believe we are subject to the accessibility rules and are not meeting them, you may raise it with the market surveillance authority responsible in Germany — the Marktüberwachungsstelle der Länder für die Barrierefreiheit von Produkten und Dienstleistungen (MLBF) in Magdeburg. We would rather hear from you first, and we answer.
