siterealChangelog

What changed, and when.

Everything below is work that actually landed, dated by the day it did — the notes are written by hand, not generated from commit messages.

0.2.2

Frontmatter and forms

  • The left column's HTML tab is now Output: it shows the page's HTML and its frontmatter, and you can add your own frontmatter code, for example to load data for a Custom loop.
  • A form can now send to several email addresses and webhooks.
  • Fixed: the GitHub sign-in sometimes showed no code, or said "Connected" when it had failed.
  • Several bug fixes.
0.2.1

Windows fixes

  • New projects check for Git and Node.js and offer to install what is missing.
  • Fixed: on Windows, new projects could be created without their packages or their git repository, and the preview and build check did not start.
  • Several bug fixes.
0.2.0

Windows fix

  • Fixed: the Windows app could hang on its startup screen.
0.1.9

Content Hub fine-tuning: collections, images and publishing

  • Collections are easier to build: entry pages in a folder (/journal/my-post), entry and archive settings up front, a Fields button to place fields, and previews with real entries.
  • Images get alt text, resolution and a focal point everywhere, and images in loops ship at the size you set.
  • Loops can show your site's own Astro content collections, such as a Markdown blog.
  • Publishing is clearer: choose which files to commit, and errors say what to do.
  • Pasted tracking codes like Google Analytics now work as pasted.
  • Several bug fixes.
0.1.8

Content Hub: long texts, entry pages and archives

  • Long text fields are real rich text: write in place or open a large editor, and insert images, videos, YouTube, tables, embeds, code blocks and your own components.
  • Image and gallery fields have alt text, a focal point and a resolution, and pictures are resized for the site automatically.
  • Public collections get a page for every entry, built from one design you edit on the canvas. Archives are ordinary pages you can design.
  • Links suggest your pages and entries as you type and follow them when a page or entry is renamed.
  • Undo now also covers deleting entries, pages, collections, components and media, and an AI agent's changes can be undone as one step.
  • The dot in the top bar now checks whether your site actually builds and takes you to the error.
  • A project that was not created on this computer asks before running its own scripts in the builder.
  • Loops that match no content show nothing, and wide content tables scroll sideways.
  • Several security and bug fixes.
  • Good to know: changing your account email now asks for a code from your current address as well as the new one.
0.1.7

Parts that stay styled, HTML editing and live agent builds

  • Carousels, forms, popups and consent panels are styled by the design system and can be restyled with a single class.
  • Menus, carousels and popups keep their look even with the design system switched off.
  • Each menu and dropdown can have its own style: flyout, accordion, mega menu or full width, with several mobile menu styles to choose from.
  • The whole page can be edited in the HTML panel.
  • Watch an AI agent build: new sections appear on the canvas as they are written.
  • A page can no longer be overwritten by an older copy from another window or agent.
  • Image fields in the Content Hub pick from the media library.
  • Nested loops show real content on the canvas.
  • Good to know: header patterns are hidden for now while the pattern library is finished. Texture variables were renamed (for example --texture-opacity is now --texture-noise-opacity), so update any overrides you wrote by hand.
0.1.6

Navigation headers, bring your own design system, and forms on PHP hosting

  • Seven ready-made headers with a complete navigation.
  • A new Navigation screen in the design system for the menu's look and the mobile breakpoint.
  • Import and export your design settings, or use your own framework CSS instead.
  • Empty fields in the Style panel show the design system's value, and the variable picker suggests tokens that fit.
  • Forms work on PHP hosting and share one mail setup for the whole site.
  • A refreshed logo and a new sign-in code screen.
0.1.5

Scroll-linked motion, flexible templates and a cleaner Style panel

  • Animations can follow the scrollbar, and reveals gained 3D turns, exit animations and looping ambient motion.
  • A cleaner Style panel: borders and shadows open in a card, grid columns are a number you step, and grid children can span columns and rows.
  • Headings show their text style right away, and any element can use a style from the type scale.
  • Templates can hold a breadcrumb bar, a sidebar or a container around the page content.
  • A new Assets tab for templates, components, stylesheets and snippets, with folders.
  • Variables show what the design system's tokens resolve to and can be sorted into folders.
  • History shows exactly what changed in each save.
  • Merging branches no longer leaves conflict markers in your project.
  • Images get responsive sizes automatically.
  • The desktop app opens without a white flash and reuses its window when you switch projects.
  • Smaller fixes, including submenus covering their parent menu and device previews at the wrong height.
0.1.4

Addons, a modular design system and video embeds

  • Addons: Forms, Pop-ups, Consent and Carousel moved to a new Addons screen, joined by a Database and Social media feeds.
  • The design system is split into modules you can switch on and off without losing their values.
  • Typography has tabs for headings, text and fonts, with more settings for each.
  • Upload your own font files.
  • Set one corner radius for every image and video.
  • Paste a YouTube or Vimeo link into a video to embed it, with switches for autoplay, loop and more, and an optional lightbox.
  • Line breaks and soft hyphens can go straight into a heading.
  • Loops and conditions are elements in the layer tree, and any layer can be hidden.
  • Fonts show correctly on the canvas in the desktop app again.
  • Share images now work on social networks when entered as a relative path.
  • Smaller fixes, including undo per page or component and dragging media into collections.

  • Install with one line on macOS, Windows and Linux, and sign in with a code sent to your email.
  • A modular design system you can switch on piece by piece.
  • Navigation, popups, forms and carousels built from real elements.
  • A library of ready-made sections that land on the canvas as ordinary elements.
pre-release

Before 0.1

  • The builder took shape: the canvas at every breakpoint, the layer tree, the Style panel, components, templates, loops and conditions.
  • The design system, effects, overlays, one color control everywhere, and class names generated from an element's name.
  • Everything a project knows moved into one file at its root, site.sitereal.

Start on the current build.

Every version stays on the download page, and sitereal updates itself unless you tell it not to.
